In 2002, While CEO of Elad Properties, Mr. Naftali and his team converted this 11-story, 1892 Romanesque Revival-style commercial building into fifty apartments, ranging from one-, two- and three-bedroom unit mix including duplexes that range in size from 1,100 to 3,600 square feet.

Architects H. Thomas O’Hara and Gal Nauer Architects worked together to ensure that the conversion would preserve 21 Astor’s historic details, including the original redbrick terra cotta façade and arched windows, while creating contemporary layouts, features and amenities that luxury condominium buyers demand. Naftali sold all fifty units in less than four months.
