A Turtle Bay townhouse where Katharine Hepburn lived for more than seven decades went into

contract last week, part of Manhattan’s busiest week for luxury deals since early June.

Buyers scooped up 36 high-priced condos, co-ops and townhouses between Oct. 19 and 25 —

the highest total since the first week of June, according to the latest report from Olshan Realty.

Eight of the three dozen properties that went into contract last week were above $10 million, and

the Upper East Side again bested Downtown for the number sold, according to the report.

The week’s priciest deal was on the Upper East Side: a penthouse at 255 E. 77th St. with an

asking price of $23.8 million.

The six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom penthouse unit sits on the top floor of Naftali Group’s

36-story condo building in Lenox Hill. It has two terraces that overlook Central Park and the

Midtown skyline. The building itself, which is nearing the final stages of construction, was

designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Its residential amenities include a seventy-five-foot

swimming pool, fitness center, yoga and spa rooms, library, cinema, sports simulator, and a kids

club space.
